rattling, clanking sound???
hey all
i have noticed recently that after driving for about 30 minutes or so when ever i go over a bump or a crest in the road, i hear this rattling sound from underneath the car. it sounds like a muffler or something is loose but i am not sure. has anyone else had a problem similar to this one? what do u think it can possibly be?

i had a sound like that, i found that the suspension when hot made noise. it took mazda 2 weeks to get it fixed. they ended up just changing the entire suspension parts on the passenger front side.
they tried first the bushings, then the strut, then something else, then just changed everything

I have the same noise in mine, sounds like drivers side to me. The tech at the dealer said he thought it was the insides of the cat conv which had gone bad at 10,000 mi. but it didn't go away after they replaced it. I am off the week after next and am going to have them look at it again when I take it in for the recalls.

i took it in after about a week because it got worse. it was really loud. i had to really fight with them to get it fixed, they first looked at it said they couldnt duplicate, i told them when i brought it in that it had to be driven for a while to get hot. they insisted i bring it to them hot because they couldnt take the time to drive it to get it hot. i did that and the guy looked at it, they took forever to get it fixed, each time using at least 1/4 of a tank of gas. when they changed everything they drove it for almost 1/2 tank of gas. no problems since though

I had a similar experience. It turned out that my TMPS sensor had broken within the wheel and it was rattling around inside. It was much louder than you would expect.
I however inisited that I take the tech out with me for a driver around the block. They agreed and this was extremely benificial because I told him exactly when the noise was being made and he agreed with me he could hear it. That way I knew they are 'repeated' it. Because I did it for them!
