AT Radiator question

I am going to be replacing my radiator soon because it is starting to leak. Since I have an Automatic transmission I have fewer options for replacement radiators that are better than stock. I was thinking about possibly using a better than stock radiator for a MT and then an external transmission cooler for the ATF. I was wondering if anyone knows an estimate for the capacity of the Tranny cooler thats in the stock AT radiator.

thanks!

Just get an OEM replacement and call it a day. But if you insist on adding an additional cooler then it will depend on the size of the cooler and then you will just fill and check the level as outlined in the service manual.

Trans cooler holds 5 oz. and takes up alot of space in the lower radiator tank.

Yep, then I used it as a power steering fluid cooler. I was going to use it
as a differental cooler, but it was to small. NEXT.

You used it as a power steering cooler on what? It is way too small to be a diff cooler.

With a pump the fluid would not stay in the cooler that small long enough to cool off any.

And the size of the veins on the cooler is to small to accommodate the viscosity of the gear lube, it was like pushing ice cream though a straw.

Used it on an old saginaw power steering pump.

thanks digger! also thanks for the input 9k, I was thinking about using an OEM replacement I just dont really want to be using a partial plastic radiator again (the part that is failing is the plastic nipple). I still might go that route after I sort out the costs in doing it both ways.

To replace the radiator fans you need to move a lot of stuff, a good guide was the mizu fan and radiator install that was on here oron the mizu cooling blog.
