CA RX8 for only $4000?

This guy is posting up his car on Craigslist, stating that: "29K MILES ON CAR, 40K MILES ON NEW MOTOR. ITS OFF A 2009 RX8" also he says that it only needs an ECU Harness to run. Would I need to buy a S2 ECU harness because the engine is from an 09'?

2007 Mazda Rx8 $4000 firm. 6SPEED

That isn't a 2009 engine unless he has done the very expensive conversion to make it capable of supporting the series 2 engine, so either it's a 40,000 mile Series 2 engine that he is not quite done the swap for, or he had the engine replaced in 2009 and only thinks he has a 2009 engine.

i saw that car, if it is indeed an S2 engine, then it will probably need more than a harness, as there are a lot of differences between S1/S2.

it might be easier just to buy an S1 engine, and make it stock, and resell or keep the S2 engine.

secondly the original engine should have been under warranty, so something odd happened.

I just got done talking to the owner, he said he has done all the conversions from S1 to S2 except the harness. Is the harness hard to come by? He also told me he is selling it because he is starting school next week and needs a running car. What other questions should I ask? I already know about the coils and compression.

i would make sure that a harness is actually all you need, if its that simple, then go for it, if you can smog it.

you should actually get the old dead engine, put that back in and go to a dealership of your choice point to the car and say it has trouble starting, and let them fix it. if the title is clear it should be under warranty.

bullshit, complete Bullshit.

it will cost him WAY more than 4K that he is asking for to do the conversion.

more like this dude is a moron who just randomly bought some engine thinking it's the same, end up found out it's not, or did something seriously wrong, hoping to Get some money back before it becomes a money pit. ahh, yeah, going to school huh, that should tell you how "smart" this guy is.

The guy was dodging my questions about the Warranty, I think he's bullshitting and the conversion is no where near complete...
