I thought it was bad to mix synthetic and regular. If you want to switch to synthetic, why not wait till your next oil change and drain out all your regular oil and fill with synthetic, and continue topping off with what you have in there already.

But of rotarygod says it's okay, then definitly take his word on it. I bought my RX-8 and joined these forums two months ago and I already know rotarygod is one of the main technical rotary gurus on these boards.

Since you can only change about 2/3 of the oil, you're going to have a mixture any way you do it.

yea im going to drain out my old oil but like nubo said all the old oil wont get drained out because some stays in the oil coolers i believe. so what im going to do is do an oil change, fill it up with rp, and do another oil change a couple miles down the road to try to drain more dino oil out.

but since rotarygod says its ok and for as little as ive been here he seems very intelligent, ill take his word.

Fine, I will keep it nice.

Next time, try to understand this function first.

Yes, you can mix oils. as long as it has the *For gasoline engine* seal, and at LEAST SL or better rated.
