well it happend last night

when i drive my car in 5th or 6th gear and i give it gas the rpm's jump up all the way to like 4000 rpm and just go back down i cant figure what the problem is

if anyone knows what the problem is please let me kno

I know you were doing some things(mods) to your car, so also tell us the last two mods that you put on......after to give us the car info.

 

theres no mods on the car at all (stock)

its a 04 rx8 its got 43k miles and my coolant light comes on when i turn the car on and it goes off

 

Damn, at one time I know you were thinking about intakes and exhausts as well. Anyway, I'm really not sure about your issue other than it might be the clutch slipping. Better have it checked out.

 

^^^ yea i was...thinking bout them but winter is comin so theres no point of geting them till next year

to check for a slipping clutch stop and pull ebrake put in first gear and rev up a little and start to let clutch out like you are moving from a stoplight if it tries to just shut off it should b good if the motor does not bog down then your clutch is slippingand time to get a new one.....the car rev's fine up to 9k in Neutral? just in won't go above the specified RPM's in gear?

whats some clutches that i can find that are good for racing, drifing or whatever just a good performance clutch

 

If you're actually going to be hammering the car, an ACT set-up might be good for you. However, keep in mind that MM has been running the stock clutch for a LONG time with his turbo kit and I have been running the stock clutch for almost 70,000 miles with nitrous and occasional weekend drag racing.

I can get a few different clutches for you and I also have a seriously heavy-duty release bearing available, too.

 

yeah ACT is one of the best but (of course depends on which one u get) it will not have the same "feel" as stock.....i would get prices on stock and some aftermarket ones and go from there but make sure it's the clutch first

 

Ray, can the clutch peddle assembly problem cause clutch wear problems? I've gone through 2 clutches so far (on #3) and I am still under 50,000 miles. I'm considering on going to a sprung 6 puck.

 

yea i took the car to the shop and its the clutch so am a have to take my car next week to get it fixed, i was looking at fluidmotorsports clutches looks like they got some good ones 2.

 

Since the clutch pedal problem results in incomplete disengagement of the clutch I would venture to say that it could cause accelerated wear on the disc. The pedal issue certainly causes excessive load on the synchros, and for the same reason. The thing to look for is increasing play (as well as operational noise) in the pedal as hydraulic clutch systems are not supposed to require adjustments of any kind (even though several dealers are telling people otherwise).

I get the same stuff as Fluid and beat their prices every day (even their "sale" prices). Make sure to compare "shipped" costs, too. I also don't see anybody else offering HD release bearings, either.

 

i jst ordered a ACT clutch should be coming next week
