Powertrain warranty ending

My powertrain warranty is ending at the end of this march.
Since i know some 8 is plague with engine and transmissions problem.
Should i take it into the dealer ship and have a check up? Like a compression test may be?

You can't just "bring it in and let them check"

they will check it "only" if its experiencing problem(s)

I just gave u a hint

^Dude, nycgps told you what to do. Let me be more clear, tell them you are "having hard start issues or idle problems". It's under warranty right now so they will run the full gambit of tests...compression check, swap coils, plugs, wires, and possible throw in a de-carb. Depends on what they find during the check up. All that is free $900+ for the dealership in warranty work. My dealership has done this twice on my car.

Why would I not be serious? Please search the tons of threads here where people have done what some of are talking about. You have to have "problem" for the dealership to absorb the cost.

^The first time I went in I told them I noticed some power loss, they then did the full work up and paid for everything. Sometime later I went in because I was having issues with my 2nd gear synchro and 5-6 gear themselves, not really but they tested it out for me. They found minor damage to the 2nd gear synchro and replaced that and 5-6 gear since they were in there anyways. I have yet to pay for a bill with my dealership and they have done, at last check of all my service work, over $5k in warranty work not including the replacement engine they did too. I guess I have been lucky.

It also helps that I worked for a pro Mazda race team and the dealership tries not to BS me because I tend to know a little more about the 8 than their techs do.

The 100K warranty you are referring to only covers the engine and core parts of the engine. The power train warranty covers the tranny and such but was only extended to 5yr/60k miles.

So today i dropped my car off at 7:30 am, and i used the excuse "powerloss" thinking everything is fine with the car and results will b good and everything went well and all. Around 1:30 pm, i got a call back from the dealership and to my surprise i am gettin a new engine....

So this is kinda bad and good news at the same time.

I have my finger crossed and hope that mazda will get me a new engine.
My baby will be gone for 1 and a half weeks

Any advice on this situation?
