Powerplant frame removal

Powerplant frame removal
What will happen if it is removed? That is the beam that bolts the LSD to the Tranny and holds it aligned. Is it there just for better handling and to strengthen the body or does it NEED to be there for other technical issues like to protect the driveshaft from flexing enough to shatter?

What torque? lol .. No seriously, I don't think it is extremely important for it to be there, it only strengthens the powerplant and is supposed to eliminate movement from the torque but NO other car has this PPF and these motors don't really have a lot of torque so I think it can easily be removed as long as some other brackets are made to support the tranny in a straight line as well as the LSD.. Any opinions from the real experienced tech guys?

The frame holds the diff and gearbox in position. Without it the back end of the gearbox would flop about all over the shop - the diff would twist around like Chubby Checker too.

GM calls it a "torque arm".
Yes, it can be removed and you can use custom brackets in it's place. You will end up with a lot of driveline noise in the cabin, though.
Engine torque, transmission gearing, and differential gearing all must be considered before drawing conclusions.

srmotorsports made a heavy duty PPF http://www.srmotorsports.com/RX8_Per...ion_Parts.html, but i have no idea if it is lightweight or just heavy duty. Not like we need a heavy duty one. 20b guys will break the stock unit but no renesis powered rx8 has yet, that I know of.
