Power door lock

Does anyone have a wire diagram or cross section of the insides of the door that kinda explains the wiring on the door locks? My passenger side electric door lock stopped working but there is still a clicking from what I believe is the relay near the glove box. The lock stopped working a couple months ago and then started working again all the sudden but now its not working again.

Any ideas? My grandpa was an electrician and an electrician/mechanic in Vietnam so he knows his way around car's electric systems. He's gonna help me take a look but he said it would be helpful to have some sort of diagram.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Maz... you always seem to be one of the most helpful people on here.

I wasn't able to find much on the wiring inside the door though, let me know if you have those other sites. I think we're gonna work on it tomorrow.

Are you sure you haven't pushed the disable button on your driver's door?

^............... That would suck!

I'll take a look on the other computer today. I was hoping that would at least narrow down the wiring harness and connectors for you.

There's a disable button for the power lock on the passenger side? The power lock works fine on my side.

Look on page 3-10 of the manual, and if you don't have one........PM me your E-mail addy!

I'm not exactly sure it will lock out the passenger door lock...........I can't remember. Maybe I need to go look myself!

I would lean towards the door lock solenoid being bad, if the driver's lock responds. But I'm also not sure about any passenger door lock defeat.

We unplugged the wiring harness from the motor in the door and hooked it up to a tester and there was a current every time we pushed lock or unlock so its not the wiring. Sorry I'm an electrical noob whats a solenoid? Is it an expensive part? If I have to replace the actuator I heard its gonna be 150 just for the part. ugh.

Yeah, they are calling it an actuator. I don't know about the price, so can't help you there. One thing to do is pull the actuator and try it at the connector, just on the off chance something is wrong with the wiring inside the door.

So the passenger lock started working again today for about 5 minutes then stopped working again... I'm beginning to think it might not be the motor.

I have an intemittent flaw with my passenger side door lock. It's actually the plunger microswitch on the suicide door. Sometimes it thinks the door is ajar when it's not, lighting the dome light. It did so off and on over a two week period and then hasn't again (I did manually activate the microswitch a few times thru the boot in case it was hanging up). Of course the dealer couldn't troubleshoot it since it wasn't happening when I was there. Damn gremlins!

There's a thread here somewhere ("door ajar"?) and a number of people have indicated the same anomaly. There's no TSB for it however.

Thanks for the idea but I don't think that's what is happening. I don't get the door ajar light or dome light. Also, if the door is open and you try to lock it doesn't the manual switch pop back out right away? The manual switch doesn't move at all when I hit the unlock or lock button.

I get a clicking from underneath the glovebox area when I press lock or unlock but nothing else. Driver's side works fine.

Still could be the solenoid. Intermittent working is common with electric motors and related things when they go bad. Makes it extra hard to diagnose the problem.

If I could just get a good diagram of when current goes through which two terminals on the plug to the solenoid I could test the wiring harness... ugh.

has this been resolved? i have a 2004 6spd, and am having the same exact issue. my door unlocks perfectly, but the passenger's manual switch doesn't even move. Also there is an audible click from under the dashboard. (sounds like a relay)
I would appreciate some bullet points on where to start.
thanks

ok...... so mine magically started working again. after about 2 weeks. I mean, im not complaining but it seems like it would be a connection/ corrosion issue. Since it is intermittent.

So did anyone resolve this? I'm now having the same problem after my PCM took out everything that was on at the time.

I have Black 2005 RX8 and I've noticed when it gets hot outside (in Florida) my power locks won't work. Meaning I can't unlock or lock the doors with the key remote unit which usually is in the afternoon but in the morning it will work just fine.

That's weird? Here in Vegas, it gets hot and i don't even have problems with it. Just curious about yours

I'm having the same problem with my '05 RX8 Shinka edition. Just started a couple months ago, and only when the car gets hot (usually after parking with the sun on the dark paint all day). Driver's side only. Has anyone found the fix for this yet?

So I am not sure if I am having the exact same lock issue I live in Chicago, and My passenger door power lock just stopped working. I can physically see the door lock move when it is unlocked trying to lock, but it seems there is not enough power to actually get it into the locked position.

The same things happens if I lock the door when I hit the button I see the lock jiggle but It just doesn't seem to have enough oomph to switch it to unlock.

And It is definitely not hot here about 30 degrees F

I have the same problem with my driver side door. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I would describe it as "weak" and inconsistent. Almost as if there is a battery or capacitor that charges that is going bad. Today I tried locking/unlocking the passenger side half a dozen times in a row and it failed to work too but then recovered after a bit.

Anyone have any luck?
