I get barely any wheel spin for doing a launch at 5K rpms and notice how it drops to 3K and seems to struggle to get the car moving?

i don't know much but mine will definitely make wheel spin at 5k rpm launch with warmed up P-Zero Nero or Toyo T1R (235/40/18). I suggest you to try to warm up the car properly and let the PCM to learn your driving habit, like trashing it for few rounds before do the test. Other than that, Use original air box with K&N will help. Use CAI or other open port filter will decrease the 0-60mph. Tested personally. Other thing like alignment, toe and camber setting will effect a bit. Track or drag, you can only choose 1. Add a voltage regulator and grounding wire, theoretically will help But really works when you have a small or old battery.

Would a decrease in MPG be from bad plugs/coils or a clogged cat?

When I first got the car at 25000 miles I could get 20 MPG combined.

It has dropped consistantly since then. From 20, to 18 a month later, to 17, to 15.5, and now my last tank was 13 MPG. Each drop swas about a month apart.

I run only Shell V Power and have kept my driving habits the same. I drive mostly highway as well.

Have you taken it to IPAC Mazda yet? Because from personal experience I avoid any IPAC dealership.

I recommend N. Park Mazda.

I would have setup an appointment with N. Park Mazda, but I had called 3 different days just to be put on hold for 30 minutes. I was never able to talk to a service writer to even setup an appointment.

I did a 50-60 test in 6th on the way to the airport tonight and counted "one-one-thousand two-one-thousand ..." It took about 6 seconds by my count. I know it wasn't 60-70 but I imagine that the lower revs and power for 50-60 more than makes up for the higher wind resistance above 60.

My car is bone stock.

I've started to notice that my car does indeed hesitate. I never noticed it before because it was such a small and quick hesitation.

Today though I noticed that under full throttle acceleration in 1st gear when it got to around 5,500rpms I felt a slight sensation of deacceleration, like as if I let off the gas, and then it would pick back up at 6,000rpms. You would have to be paying a lot of attention to notice it.

I don't notice it in any other gears, but that could be because the car is not pulling as hard as it does in first.

I talked to my Service Writer this morning and he said that a new engine is on order for my car. He said that it failed their compression test.

The good thing is that I am going to be gone for an entire week visiting family in Kentucky, so that gives them an entire week to order and install my new engine. My Service Writer told me that my car would be ready by the time I get back. I love how this timing worked out

BTW, Just a couple weeks ago World Car siad that my engine passed their compression test. That is the 6th strike against them. Be warned.

Well, the whole thing about my engine being ready by the time I would be back on vacation was a farse. But, that didn't bother me as ordering and installing an engine in one week seemed very unlikely to me after reading other people saying that it had taken sometimes up to 5 weeks for a dealership to put in a new engine.

Now with that said, the dealership called and told me that my car should be ready Monday afternoon. So, a little over two weeks which is very very good in my book.

I can't wait to get to drive my car, I keep watching BMI JDM's Rocket Rotary video over and over while I wait to get my hands on my car again.

I plan on making new videos after the break in period for you to view.

WHo knows, maybe I am just a crappy driver and I still get 8 second 0-60s even on the new engine?

I picked up my car earlier and it seemed to have a bit more power, but its hard to tell as I was shifting in the 2500-3000 range. I will post again once I get through the break in period and I can really open her up.

I've already put 120 miles on my car from running around town all morning.

When I got to around the 100 mile point, I noticed a significant increase in power. Not a lot of power, but it was enough for me to realise.

I do have to keep an eye on my rpm guage as it is so easy to go over the 4K rpm mark without even realising it.

At 300 miles I plan on getting an oil change done and switching to 10w30.
