Possible thermostat issue?

I have searched and cant find anything.. How do you know when a thermostat is bad? Im not even 100% sure its thermostat im looking at, its right behind the battery box where all of the coolant lines go into.. ANyways, there is a leak, I cant tell if its a hose right there leaking or if possibly the thermostat is leaking.

can you post a pic? I would check your hoses for cracks and make sure all the hose clamps are in place and doing their job. Check the bolts on the thermostat housing.

im 99% sure its the hose.. no cracks or anything I think its just leaking at the clamp, so I got a new clamp and its really damn tight so we will see what happens. I dont have any pics, I was out working in the rain trying to fix it haha.

yeah theromstat is right in the housing out of the motor in the general area you were explaining....but if it's leaking it's a good change its the hose not a thermostat a thermostat is contained in a housing so if it goes bad can overheat or overcool or motor....

well its deff what the picture is so its.

that little "seem" in the metal just above the big inlet on the bottom, the horizontal one, there is quite a bit of coolant built up around there (old bright green dried up) but im pretty sure it just happend to build up there from the hose leaking onto it.. The engine hasnt dont anything weird as far as heating or cooling goes. Its always in the exact same spot so im going to assume its fine and was just the hose.

Bose, I wont be drving around until around friday when I get there. Im driving a truck towing the 8 from tampa, fl.. so its going to be a journey.. My 8 is black with black stock rims (actually will be some generic rims with snow tires when I get there)
