Sorry for the late response I have been extremely busy with school lately and havent been on the forums much.... No I am hearing the high pitched noise from my OMP Vacuum line that is attached to the intake tube. I believe I posted a video of it a few pages back or so..... The sound you are hearing through your consol could just be whining from the transmission. I can hear mine start to whine a bit at certain rpms and at cruising speeds in town (50-60km/h in 3rd gear usually is where I hear it the loudest).

Edit: Page 23 Post 553 for Video

No worries.... i guess it is either the transmission or maybe some leak in my welds of my mid pipe...

Anyways, i am having some vaccum leak as well but just cant seem to find the source... Mazdamaniac noted some irregularities and up till now ia m still searching...

Ahh man that is shitty, hope you can get it all sorted out..... I haven't had a vacuum/boost leak ever but I'd have to say they seem to be a real PITA to get sorted; Best of luck!

My theory is people rev the car to 9k rpm's on every shift. Now think about it.. Yes the car rev's high but if you constantly redline the thing issues are bound to happen in any car. Don't beat the shit out of it and it will last a while.

Wrong...

like 100% wrong, in fact I'd venture to say that is the most inaccurate post I've ever read on this forum.

Have nice day :).

I thought about it and I poop on your theory. How could anyone possibly rev to 9k on every shift? Get real braddah.

Renesis failure theory #103525251615614515641561561: Needs more Booooooooost!

Make no difference in warm up.

I have done it a bunch of times. Sometimes a small bit dribbles over but not much. But then again my car didn't take long to warm up either. We will see how differently it behaves with a new motor and the turbo system.

I premix 1 OZ per gallon of gas along with the Sohn. 8 Oz is too little In my opinion.

Yep, give it a go, seeing yours is an S1, that amount of Pre-mix is good.

I would not bother with Sohn adapter, it is not going to really rectify lack of middle Apex Seal lube. Only Pre-mix can really do that.

Frankly, the OEM MOP set up is rubbish in S1, and that will draw criticism, but it is, it is unreliably, blocked Nozzles, fragile Nozzle supply lines, that set up should never have been used... you never know if a Nozzle is blocked or not with OEM, Sohn may show you when it is too late...Pre-Mix is the best for S1...8 Oz.

9krpmrx8 11-03-2011 04:44 PM

I do 1/2 per gallon plus the Sohn. I just worry about too much premix affecting the octane rating. especially now that I will be boosted.

shadycrew31 11-03-2011 04:50 PM

I forget to premix often, also I seldom have enough cash to get a full tank.

P.s. I got your money for the fuel pump but its in my paypal account, I'm gonna PM you.

LOL

Well I decided to use the catch can becuase I don't want to buy anymore extra crap.

I am so close to finishing this kit up and I have sold a bunch of stuff!!

this next check should get me almost all the parts. Next up is polishing the turbine housing, porting out the wastegate a bit, matching the turbine housing to the manifold and the wastegate.

After matching it I noticed some crazy steps and lips happens with casts I suppose.

What empirical information do you base this on?

rotarygod 11-07-2011 09:26 AM

Why did we need a "new" engine failure theory when we've known the real problem for years now?

Is there only one real problem? I don't think so.

05rx8mazda 11-07-2011 09:55 AM

I have none. Only thing is injectors can get clogged over time! i cant say anything until i pull it apart and check everything but until then 20k All boosted and running like a champ. Octane may be affected but it didn't have any change in my AFR even in the summer heat going into boost then again every place has different gas ya know?

Nope. The S1 oil metering system was inadequate causing mixed results, power levels, mileage figures, and reliability between engines. The oil coolers have no fans so don't get any cooling while the car is not in motion or is moving slowly. The engine bay is cramped which doesn't allow air to easily get out. This leads to the engine running hotter. I'll remember a couple of other things but the point is that all of the issues with that motor are known and no new theories are needed.

9krpmrx8 11-07-2011 11:09 AM

Gotcha. I thought you meant there was only one problem for the failures.

There is...

It's called Rotary engine.

Boom (no pun intended).
