Is it possible?

It's essentially a lightweight vg30de, which came out of the 300zx the VG is a heavy piece of **** but its durable. the VQ lineup isn't bad but the vq35de is a time bomb.

You state that you love the sond, just FYI even if you do successfully swap a VQ it'll never sound the same as a Z. Ever heard a Z with an aftermarket exahust? Doesn't sound the same.

from what i've read, the vq doesn't respond to boost very well, so most turbo kits tend to keep the psi low unless you build the engine.
if this is true, you'll find the renesis will end up able to go beyond your v6 swap in terms of power to the wheels and for lower cost (v6 + turbo vs renesis + turbo).
if you're going to do an engine swap, 20b or LSx is the only logical choice.

The new 370z though is making very nice power gains with bolt-ons. If the twin turbo kits for that are anything like the g37 counter parts, they will be making some huge horsepower around 500-600 horses easily and reliable.(16X where are you?)
For OP, I guess the questions comes down to which model Z he's talking about what kind of performance does he want, i.e. what kind of driving/racing he wants to do. You can tune any engine for high horse power, just depends like what everyone else says, how deep are your pockets. To each there own, but if you want a dyno queen then you'll have no choice but FI with any engine you chose.
