I love the look of the RX8 but i love the way the 350z engine performs, is it possiblew to swap the rx8 engine for a 350z?

Anything is possible. All a matter of how deep your pockets are.

Well, people have put V-8 engines into Miatas so what do you think?

why 350z engine, theres plenty more motors that you can put it in

id go 3 rotor or a FD motor

i'm not sure about it but i would probably say not really since the renesis is so small i doubt the vq35 would fit in without modifications to at least the hood and crossmember well at least thats my oppinion.
if i were to do a swap i'd go with 3 rotor

OP-as said above with enough money it's possible but that would just take the "RX" name and put it(well on ur particular car) to shame!

I guess I'm exactly the opposite as the OP. I like the looks of the Z car over that of the 8 but think the 8 is the far superior car.

Seriously, if you are going to go through with the expense you may as well use an LSx motor. Sure, a VQ can make a ton of power, but it needs a good upgraded, low compression rebuild and a gigantic turbo to go past ~400-500hp. LS motors can see 800+ bare bones stock with bolt ons n/a. And they are bullet proof. And all aluminum.

Nothing against the Rx8 motor its just it would most likely require a lot more $$$$$ put into it to make it quicker as compared to swapping an engine (being that the guy next door would do it probably for a pack f cigerattes a a 6pk of bud). I mean I love the sound of the engine and it does have nice power stock but the reason I like the 350z is its quick from the line and holds its power well after that (i test drove the hell outta one). But I cant afford one and the lack of "trunk space" and back seat are a deterrent so I wanted best of both worlds, somewhat back seats and trunk space with the power of the 350z.

Now with mention to the LSx motor where would I come across one of these beauts and whats it roughly run $$ wise? Thanks guys like I said I probably sound like a tool for this post but I want both!!! ah thanks .

Lol...... if you cant afford a Z in the first place, then a motor swap and rolling Chassis(i.e rx8) is way of out of your budget range:sweatdrop. most compatibale engine swaps on cars cost a decent amount of cash (done right, clean, and professionally), let alone doing different company/brand engine swaps.
you cant really half ass a z motor into a 8 im sure. probably need custom mounts, tramissons brackets, trans mounts, driveshaft, hood, etc. then getting a hold of a good condition motor and trans.....phew its exahsuting just thinking about it!:banghead:
Then theres wiring.....good god the wiring turns me off on it alone!... but dont take my word on engine swaps and the "expense" , im just a realist ;)

Of all the engines not to swap in the vq series would be it! That VQ engine is a huge bag of fail and sucks me harder than a Russian mail order bride.

Anyways yea if you want to do a swap that's all motor go for a 20b or an LS6/2/1...

Just forget it.

You will find an older LS motor cheaper than a VQ.

And you will be better off financially to trade your stock RX8 for a 350Z than to do either motor swap.


If you don't, or can't budget $10-15,000 your project will crash and burn. And I could very easily be low. That will depend on the amount of labor you, or your bud drinking neighbor, can do yourselves, how well equipped your garages are, and how much the shop you take it to charges for labor.

Personally, I would probably charge towards the top end of that number just in labor and fabrication if you supplied the engine, trans, computer, & wiring harness. If I had to source them that would be plus all that. Custom fabrication is EXPENSIVE, to say the least.
