Unhappy please help, bad miss at idle

I bought my rx-8 about 2 months ago as a program car with full warranty, and only 6000 miles on it. I had it for about 3 days before I ever really got on it hard, ever since then I have a bad miss at idle, and it seems to be worse after I run it hard. I have the typhoon k&n intake and borla catback exhaust, but the miss at idle started before I added the new parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated, so that I can go back to enjoying my sweet ride.

Thanks Adam

Did you see a CEL at the time? Blinking CEL would indicate a misfire on a plug ... I've had this problem (at ~9,000 mi) and had to get a plug replaced.

A lot of people experience a rough idle, which may be related to occasional misfires. Try doing a search for "rough idle" or "loping at idle" and you'll find some related threads. A louder aftermarket exhaust can really accentuate the misses, making the situation seem worse than it really is. If you have the capability, it might be useful to record the exhaust sound to your computer and provide a link to it. It's difficult for anyone to diagnose your situation without knowing exactly what the car sounds like.

I've heard his car idle and personally I don't think it's that bad for a rotary motor. I would just think that his louder exhaust brings out the occasional "miss" sound. I would try a couple things like spark plugs or the coil Adam.
