after refueling with 93 octane and adding the proper amount of oil, I noticed a ping sound coming from the rear of the car. It happens whenever I first get on the gas in any gear but usually at around 4k rpm. Can't figure out what it is. Searching here didn't help either as everyone seems to describe something different than me, i.e., marbles in a can or knock.

One odd thing is that I also heard it when I wasn't on the gas at all going over a speed HUMP at about 25mph. It pinged twice when I did that which makes me think something must be loose. Any ideas?

At first I thought it was something in the trunk, but after clearing the trunk and further securing the tire kit, I continued to hear the sound. Maybe the exhaust or the cat? I dunno. It only has 1000 miles on it. I think I broke it in good. grrr.

 

um, bump. am i the only one having this problem?

it's only doing it now at lower rpms. when i'm in second at around 2-3k, like when i'm turning, if i press the accelerator, like when i'm coming out of a turn, it goes, "tink". What the heck?

 

I found the culprit. I was close when I thought it was the front plate mount. Here it is. The little bastard has no slot as far as I can tell.
