Well, tested my coils and they tested bad. So I was going to go to the dealership and have them replaced under warranty, but I really didnt want the dealership to reflash my engine computer and reset my RB flash. So I just decided to buy new coils, plugs and wires myself.

And boy, it was a good thing that I did.

RX7 Plugs: They are NGK BUR-7EQ leading and BUR-9EQ trailing.

the 7 plugs feel good. Idle is good. I am pleased with the purchase. The plugs were a total of $16 at O'Reilly Auto parts.

****, only $14 for new plugs! RX8 specific plugs are over $140!!! Hello RX7 plugs, here I come!

I'm thinking of the RB Ultra 8mm plug wires, new coils, and plugs.

yeah. I know my 7 doesn't have them but then again I'm using the same NGK's as he bought except maybe heat range.

and if I remember right on the 7 all the stock ones are just a perfect ring without the little grooves but I have never seen one with the bar on the stock so didn't know what it would be for on your 8's

Actually those OEM plugs look like they are in great shape -- at least the part that matters (looking at the center insulator - nice tan color). The little crusty bits on the rim are just from the normal rotory oil burning, and aren't "corrosion". The bit of actual metal corrosion on the boot end may be from some moisture intrusion. Some dielectric grease between the spark plug insulator and the boot can help prevent that, and also makes it easier to remove the boot down the road. Also, don't forget a bit of anti-sieze compound on the plug threads. If you didn't use any, it's worth your while to pull the plugs and put some on.
