CO Performance for Auto/manual Conversion

So my ride is unfortunatly and automatic. Im looking for any reasonably priced performance mods as im not really thrilled with how the car runs. If anyone out there has done the conversion from auto to manual im interested as to which unexpected parts are needed? or if theres a torque converter out there that has a higher stall? just wanting the car to run as good as it looks....

Can you explain what you mean by "run"?

Does it refer to power, idle smoothness, power delivery smoothness, noise, vibrations? All of them?

What specifically are you not "thrilled" with?

A lot of your answers can be found on the automatic section of the forum. And if your interested in spending some cash for a higher stall, look up level10.

If your considering a swap to a manual it is generally much cheaper and easier to just sell your current car and buy a manual rx8. Unless you plan to do all the work yourself that is, but even then it could be considered a waste of your time that could have been spent doing something else.

Mainly performance, especially bottom end power. I have the ability and resources to do the work myself. However, since im relativly new to rotaries and there has been a fair amount of $ put into the appearance of my car I'd prefer to keep this one. Any input is greatly appreciated!

The AT model actually has more torque than the MT's. They just don't have the horsepower. The 06+ AT's came with a 6 port engine that raised the HP (about 15 hp) over the the 4 port engine. You can also change the rear gear ratio from 4.44 to 4.77.

Does the final gear swap help much? IIRC, there was a thread here from someone who did a swap a few years ago and reported that there really isn't much difference.

The AT to MT swap was done by Rotary Resurrection. Anyone considering that swap should look up those threads. Keep in mind that RR's knowledge of these cars is very high.
