P2259 Question

First of all I did my search, found out what the code means and what needs to be done. What I could not find is if it is bad to drive the car with this code on or not. I found some people saying that this air pump operates when the car is cold and regulates the emissions. Tomorrow I have to go to Atlanta (about 2 hour trip from where I live) so I want to know if it will be ok to drive the car or not. I will get on the problem as soon as I return from Atlanta on Monday (thanks Labor day) and see if I can fix it.

Thanks in Advance

I have read here some guys permanently disconnect the air pump with NO adverse affects , especially when the bearings in the air pump crap out.

FastFreddy thanks for your reply. To disconnect the air pump you just disconnect the connector at the solenoid?

There is a connection about 2" - 3" from the pump itself, I disconnected it there and taped the connections so debris would not get into them. I think that's what dannobre is referring to.

Guys I am at the office and can't get to the car at this moment to check the connectors on the air pump. Found this picture on the net (see the link) so I was wandering if you can let me know which connector I have to disconnect. Are you talking about the connector which is in the middle or at the bottom of the pump?
