P2004 APV, Warranty?

So I recently got a P2004 CEL up (Only in Storage, no light actually on). This along with many other problems with the car at the moment, but those are being dealt with. Anyways, I realize that this means the APV is stuck open, or so the PCM believe so. I found this thread:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=APV+fix

Which included this link:

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...14-07-1777.pdf
EDIT: This link copy didn't work, but it is on the above thread, Post #14

So, in this PDF, it talks about this being a warranty claim. My VIN does fall into this category, but I am wondering if you guys think I should bother taking it in for warranty or not. I have the stupid K&N Intake on it, as well as a gutted Catalytic Converter, so do you think they will actually give me the warranty for it? Or just throw me out the door with a bill?

Just found out that this is not a recall, so it will not be covered under warranty. None the less, does anyone have a ball-park guess for the cost of repair? .7 Hours is labour time, but I am curious about what the cost of the APV replacement kit would be

the APV kit last I checked was like 200-300 bux.

.7 labor sounds about right, that's assume you know what to look for.

you can actually do this with basic handtools. the APV kit comes with everything you need for reinstall.

Ok great. I am still debating whether or not to replace it. Do you think it would be a good idea to erase the stored code, then rev the **** out of it to see if it breaks loose?

Educate yourself first. The bulletin you're referring to has nothing to do with it actually being stuck. You can pull the APV motor and do a physical check to see if they ate sticking or not by rotating the gear by hand. Be sure you line everything back up properly before you bolt it all back up.

I was just referring to that thread because of that PDF file, and also read multiple threads before hand. On the other hand, I did end up finding my solution not long after, so yes, I really should have just looked a little bit longer lol. Thanks Team!

Oh, and for the solution - I tapped on it multiple times (Just the housing itself) with a ratchet. Wall-Ah, fixed!
