Oil pressure metering pump

My oil pressure metering pump seal is leaking a small amount of oil. I do have the seal. One expert wants to remove the engine to replace the seal from bonsai racing. His name is Chris. Is this really necessary to remove the engine. I understand a special tool has to be used to lack the engine, so the nut can be removed from the shaft to remove the pulley to get to the seal at the location of the shaft in the engine block which it protrudes through. I am very, very confused on all these different opinions I’m getting.. I understand the proper tools for this procedure was supplied by Mazda Corporation to the dealerships to perform this task. However, overtime, they have returned the tools and they have disappeared at corporate office. This nut is held on by several hundred pounds of torque. The so-called locking or flywheel locking tool is integrated in the teeth of the flywheel, preventing the engine to turn over that the nut can be removed from the oil pressure metering shaft. can I get any kind of input on this procedure please thank you, Sparky. 219-873-6686.

Are you talking about the oil metering pump which feeds the oil injectors, on the side of the engine? If so then no, you can replace the o-ring and seal from under the car without removing anything, especially not the pulley. If you're talking about the oil pump behind the front housing then yes... That's a big job. But it's not a leak you would see on the outside?

Please clarify what exactly is leaking. Photos help.

Oil pressure metering pump

Thank you very much for the info. It is the oil pressure metering pump on the passenger side. You are correct. There’s a little confusion between the service manager and perhaps the Tech. For some reason also I was misled that I would need a walking tool to perform this, but however, I believe that would be the oil pump itself. They did order a seal it came in. But now I’m beginning to wonder if this is a seal for the oil pump itself not the oil pressure metering pump. The inside diameter is approximately one and 5/8 inch. Outside diameter is approximately 2 3/8. inch. And the thickness is about 3/16 inch. Inch. Again, thank you and I’m going to show your thread to the service manager. That we may all get on the same page again thank you so much, Sparky.

Oil, pressure metering pump or ring.

I just realized the parts department did not order me an O-ring for the oil pressure metering pump. They ordered a oil seal. I believe that goes under the oil cap, that pertains to checking into the oil. Good God.

Can you show what they ordered exactly? There is a lot of weirdness here. For starters there is no such thing as an oil pressure metering pump. It's an oil metering pump. The expert should be able to name and explain things clearly.
