Oil pressure level

I am curious to know where the oil pressure gauge needle should be under normal driving conditions. My previous cars usually show it in the middle at most times, but with my 8, it tends to be in between the middle and the 3/4 mark. Is this normal? Or on the high side?

A "rotary" birdie told me that the one you are looking at shows only yes/no, on/off, 1/0. So don't worry about where the needle is. Worry if it does not move :p

I confirmed that about 10 months ago when MazdaSpeed brought out the Defi meters with oil pressure measurment - indicating that our ones are for show only

Dave, I'm sorry to tell you that the oil pressure gauge is basically an "upscale" idiot light. It is not displaying specific numbers. If the oil pressure is above a certain number, the needle stays just abouve the mid range, if it drops below a certain number, the needle apparently drops to zero. Do a search of the forum and you will find many posts related to this topic. Larry
