Oil pressure gauge range
#5
Plus the lighter the oil the more efficiently it ferries heat from the engine to the coolers.
Speaking of oil viscosities; since I am rebuilding my engine I had a chance to check all of my oil clearances. After finding what I did I am leaning HEAVILY, no pun intended, on staying with 5-20 or 5-30 oil. The specs call for clearances in the range of .0022"-.0029" for the e-shaft bearings and .0024"-.0030" for the rotor bearings. Those are pretty tight specs and my mains range from .0021-.0028 with my rotors ranging from .0021-.0025. I also used 5-20 99% of the time and even with 49K miles I have no bearing wear or scuffing and all of the other wear parts are still at 90%. Remember, I have hammered this car pretty good over the past three years with most of the abuse coming in the first year. The last two I babied it a bit too much.
