oil change amount

Maybe stating the obvious, but be sure to use the proper procedure for making the final determination of oil level before adding more oil. (I don't think overfilling is good for it)
That said, I find mine takes about 4 quarts and maybe 3 more ounces to bring the level to the "full" mark. (after draining about 1 hour, and replacing the oil filter, of course)

I almost want to say that some of us (like me) are **** and just let 'too' much drain by letting it drain longer than a dealer might. But my dealer claimed on my last oil change it took about 4 1/4 quarts. But then he did make it a tad over full even then (long story-they changed it twice in 3 days) because he estimated how much it would drain down and he didn't get it warm before checking it nor allow the 5 minutes the manual states should be given before checking. I am a bit curious about a difference in dip sticks. Mine is kinda 'bent' - very curved - when removed, although I don't have a clue if that can make a difference on the level it indicates!?

My dipstick (I mean my car's dipstick!) is completely straight except for a sharp radius bent at the very end. (to help it find its way into the tube?)
Might yours have been bent by somebody trying to remove or insert it improperly?

Tilt the car this way, more comes out. Tilt the car that way, less comes out. Eat dinner while it drains, more comes out. Don't bother waiting for pan to stop dripping, less comes out.
Drain it really hot, more comes out. Drain it cold, less comes out............
This is why we have dipsticks.
