Exclamation Official Synthetic Oil for the rx8!!!?

Anybody heard about the new OEM synthetic motor oil for the rx8?

Its called Sythe-Renesis by Mazda and its the only "full synthetic" oil "exclusively" for the rx8 renesis engine.
weight is 0w-30, and it costs about $90 for the 4 liter single oil cooler 8, and $122 for 5 liter dual oil cooler 8s.

on second note, mazda actually recommends 0w-20 for the rx8s in Japan (I didnt know that):p

I'm hoping we're gonna get it here in the states. but damn its expensive!

That oil has been out for a long while.

They show many oil recommendations including 0W20 and their oil at 0W30. The picture of their oil container seems to say xxW40. It's hard to read but that's what it looks like.

The ad in the second pic says 0w-30. If you google Synthe-Renesis you'll get this link to the Japanese owners manual:
http://www.mazda.co.jp/service/owner...x-8/70201.html

Translate it and you'll see this warning:
(Google translate) Synthesizer RENESHISU genuine non-synthetic motor oil and oil engine oil in a portion of synthetic oil is used, starting with the engine may be worse;
(Babelfish) When the motor oil of the synthetic oil and the part synthetic oil other than genuine [motaoirushinsereneshisu] is used, there are times when beginning kinesis of the engine becomes bad.

I'm taking that to mean that don't mix synthetics or you get bad starting.

To get to 0 weight, it has to be Synthetic or semi-Synthetic. this is a fact that will simply not change, no matter how much Mazda wants to hide them.

aw, guess I still havent mastered the art of search

anyways

the 0w20 or 5w20 seems to be a "recommendation" by mazda, not a manditory thing. some maintenance logs written by japanese owners uses the 0w20 most of the time, and they'll switch around to 5w30 here and there, (done at the dealer)

Heres one log by an rx8 owner, its in japanese but you can scroll around and see the motor oil weight he used, at the dealer. And he mentions somewhere that mazda recommends 0w20 for better milage so hes gonna stay with it.

http://www.hicat.ne.jp/home/yasso/car/maintenance.html

and the caution mark on the online manual says:
The use of full synthetic or partly synthetic (synthetic blend) motor oil other than the Synthe-Renesis may lead to problems with your engine

The picture looks like its says 0w-40 but they only state 0w30, not sure why...

rofl, 12/13, Reason : Engine cannot start, Solution : changed battery and starter. hahaha

xw20 oil can give ya more fuel econ that is true. But by how much ? 1% ? 2% ? what does that mean to us ? close to nothing. but people are giving up their engine's protection for 1-2% of fuel econ.

Oh yea I just remember soemthing, Ford GT's oil recommendation is 5w50 !!! If 5w20 *can offer the same protection as higher weight oil* as some people have said, Ford could've use it, right ??

Yeah Yeah Ford GT has SC in it, but in my opinion is that Ford GT is like a *show* car for Ford, they want it to last as long as possible. Its a company's image(altho its just a bunch of parts from various sources snapped together by Ford).

Not to mention, Most euro factory fill with 5w40. Do they want Max Fuel Econ? I think so, but I guess to them, Engine life/Company reputation is more important than a little bit of Fuel Econ.

ya, I feel ya, people just jump on the fact that they can get better mpg even if its 1% and not know how it'll wear the engine out, Gas is much more expensive there.
But they still have the choice of which weight they want and not lose warranty, from what I've read.

But hey, they dont have much engine failure than we do, but then again they dont drive half as much as we do.

Would like to try those new oils here, since its a motor oil thats "made" for REs

I thought all FI motors run around the 40s and 50s...

At least they're not as stubborn as some people here, people here will just use 5w20 and nothing else, when you try to explain to them, they will just throw you a *Are you smarter than those who created the engine?*

I mean Ok, you win.

Mazda CX-7's factory fill with 5w30

I fill it with 5w-40 of course.

Why not just run the 10w-50 all year around?

The container states FULL SYNTHETIC and the site states 100% synthetic POA ester.

Just for the possible added education value, this is from Wiki:

Many poly-alpha-olefins have flexible alkyl branching groups on every other carbon of their polymer backbone chain. These alkyl groups, which can shape themselves in numerous conformations, make it very difficult for the polymer molecules to line themselves up side-by-side in an orderly way. Therefore, many poly-alpha-olefins do not crystallize or solidify easily and are able to remain oily, viscous liquids even at lower temperatures. Low molecular weight poly-alpha-olefins are useful as synthetic lubricants such as synthetic motor oils for vehicles used in a wide temperature range.

I wish I knew the specs of the synthe-renesis 0W-30 so I could buy a substitute till this oil is imported to my country (If it will ever be).

May be this could be a candidate substitute for synthe-renesis 0W-30
