Odd Starting Issue

I have been searching since last night and can't figure this one out, so I was hoping someone knowledgeable here could help me.

Started my 8 about a week ago for it's weekly drive during the winter. Stopped and filled up the tires with air, got gas, yada, yada, yada and return home after about 10 to 15 minutes.

Got in it to start it yesterday, doesn't start. It unlocks, interior lights come on. Stick the key in, gauges go all the way up and back down ,but no start.

Try to jump the car with the 2009 VW Jetta and it still doesn't start. So now, I'm pissed.

What could be the issue here? I don't see how it could be flooded since I have been running it long every time I start it up to try and avoid this scenario.

If it was the battery, Shouldn't it have started right up with the jumper cables?

I am going to try my hand at the deflood procedure here in a bit once it stops raining, but I hoping for some help/criticism (good or bad) before I start.

I have a 2005 Shinka AT(lame, I know).

Thanks in advance. I know there are a lot of knowledge folks here and am sorry for clogging the area with another won't start thread but I just can't seem to figure it out.

Does the engine crank but not start or does it fail to crank? Big difference in possible causes.

Just hearing a ticking/clicking sound about two-three times and then nothing when I try and start it up.

Normally you can get 2-5 years out of a regular battery. How old is yours? Some of the time it is a poor connection on the battery post that causes your problem.

It's about 2-3 years old. Had it replaced when I got a new engine. There was acid over each terminal as well. Shouldn't it still work through a jump even it is bad/dead?

First remove the battery cables and clean off the corrision on the battery and cables, then pop of the battery caps and see if distilled water needs to be added to the battery. There are 6 holes make sure the water level is just at the bottom of the opening. Reconnect the battery and make sure the cables are on tight. Now hook up the jumper cables and let it sit for a few minutes before trying to start your car. You need to have a good clean connection or it will not work

As Invasion suggested ,I would also let the "jump" vehicle run with cables connected for10-15 minutes to put a little juice into your battery,I have seen ECU's damaged by using older style jumper cables.Do you have cables compatible with ECU equipped vehicles ?

Once the car is running there is no need to leave the jumper cables connceted. You should leave or drive the car for 20 minutes to fully chagre your battery though
