Have a 2004 gt 6spd rx8 with 80k. Feeling its just a need for some new fluids but could be wrong. I am getting a loud draining/swooshing/sucking/scratching Sound that only happens in even gears or in neutral. No sound in odd gears and ideas would really be appreciated?? will be uploading video soon. also..i have searched with no luck and nothing close to this sound. its all in cabin noise btw. started about 100 miles ago.

 

you need the rubber shifter boot, F157-64-490A. its a bit weird, but the rubber boot between the body and the shifter tears at the upper left corner, and when the shifter is in the even gears, the tear is open and lets sound in, and when you're in odd gears, its closed.

i'm sure the trans would like fresh oil too, but the noises are most likely to to be from the boot.
