i am not running a cat right now and the only code i get is the 420.. been this way for a while..
did get a 171 code.. repaced coils, and fuel pump.. all is good..
so i would say address the codes you have as neither is aimed at the cat only..

Yes, a fooler is useless on the '8.
the 139 code is just the lack of readings from the rear O2 sensor, and one of the causes of the 2096 is listed as rear O2 sensor malfunction. Admittedly, it could be something else (check for a vacuum leak under the throttle body) but unless you put the cat back on, you'll never know.

am very curious about this now.beers
The 2096 code is actually "system too lean", so possibly an unmetered vacuum leak, and dangerous.
....but could also be caused by the dumb fooler circuit sending the same (lean) signal, all the time.

i had a p0139 for a while and it was due to a clogged cat/ faulty joint gasket..... bought a new gasket and gutted the oem cat completley so i am running catless now.... all CEL's are gone
I dont understand why the p0139 would continue with a catless setup?
The code pretty tells you that there is abnormal flow going to the sensor.... it may be burned out... you can buy the sensor for about 100$ from one of the forum vendors and it is a breeze to replace.
