Newbee with question.

Hey guys i recently bought an Rx8 and the car doesn't turn on right away. It usually takes about 3 seconds to start. This is an 04 with 84k on the odometer. Would this be considered normal? I'm new to the rotary engines so I don't know much. I've been reading about these engines flooding. Is this a flooding issue? It does this every time I want to start the car. Please don't tell me I've bought a lemon.

first of all: Welcome.
Secondly: Bad thread title.
Third: Search
Fourth: No that is not normal. If you have any maintenance records see when the coils, spark plugs, and wires were changed, if unsure, I'd start there. Also, if unsure, change all fluids, Trans, Oil, Diff, etc. Just good to start fresh. Also Search Premix, its a good idea regardless of what others may say. Im a genius... says so in the name.
Fifth: Since its an 04, you might want to install the upgraded starter, and a better battery, search for recommended batteries.
Sixth: Enjoy.

Not sure if it will help, but there is an ECU flash, I think to revision T, that is supposed to make the car start easier. I just had the 04 MT I bought last week in for the 60K service (let them look it over, see what they tried to sell me). They did the upgrade as part of the service. Starts easier now. Not sure if related to upgrade (bulletin was MSP16), fresh gas, intake cleaner or what. Title on upgrade was "lack of power". Tech writer said it would start easier too. Starts better, lots more power at 4K. I have no idea if you have to pay for these upgrades, others might. I will be an owner for 2 weeks on Saturday. Good news is the 04 does have a 100K 96 month motor warranty.

Question

Would i have to pay for the new upgraded starter or would this be coverd under warranty? Or any of the service bulletins for that matter.
