New "non-squealing" brake pads???
I had my car in to the dealership to have the 'M" flash and some other things done to it last week. I told them that they needed to do something about the brakes squealing because it was driving me nuts.
When the service guy called to let me know that my car was done and ready to be picked up he said that he ordered some new front brake pads for me that had a different part number than the original part from the factory.
Does anybody know if this new part number pad might be a different pad material that will eliminate the squealing?
The service guy did not know for sure why it was a different part number. Anybody else had these new pads put on their car?

Stuck in a love triangle
The serviceguys I have taken mycar to have always told me the squealing is from the natureof the rotors andthat new brake pads arent going to solve anything. I hope theywork for you though

My brakes started squealing recently as well. You mention just replacing the front pads. I notice on my rims that there is a much larger amount of brake dust on the front rims than on the back. Maybe this is related...

My brakes squeel like a piggy as well. Its getting on my nerves too since i see beat down ford explorers and other pos cars 5 years older than me not squeeling right next to me.

Do any of you folks use a spray-on wheel cleaner when you wash your cars? I believe there's a relationship to that and the shim lube -- or subsequent lask thereof
The fix may really only be to reapply lube in the proper places. I'll give it a try this weekend and let you know.

no need for new parts to stop the squeeking!
take the pads out of the caliper bracket and clean the entire system with soapy water. get a brush and really clean everything out. next apply a thin coat of moly lube to every contact point - NOT the friction areas.
put back together and enjoy your non-squeeling brakes.
if you are so inclined you may want to go do some really aggressive stopping meneuvers. you wouldn't believe how many times i can fix a brake squeel just by heating the pads up enough to cure the resins in the pads. most of the time i won't ever hear of squeeling complaints again on those cars - and yes they do return for repeat service for other maintinence issues :-)

I guess I'll wait to get these pads on and see what happens. If the squealing continues, I'll take everything apart, clean it up, and re-lube to see if that helps. I do use alot of wheel cleaner when I wash my car. Maybe it has dissolved all of the grease on the calipers.

I didn't touch the rear pads after reviewing the pad replacement procedure in the shop manual -- unlike the front pads, there was no lube called out for any of the shims at all on the rear. Seems odd, but I only did the fronts and my recently aquired brake noise is gone.
Cheers,
