New coils now idle trouble!!! anyone??

Hi All,

I have recently replaced my ignition coils on my 04 plate RX8 231bhp, the problem is that since doing this direct replacement it idles really badly and even cuts out now and again, if anyone has had the same trouble or knows the fix for this i would be very grateful.

Thanks
Dan.

Yeah all wires in correct order i marked them all up before removing, it runs perfectly at anything morew than idle!!

And the wires should be ok, they are Magnecor leads and are about 1 year old.

How long did you run with the newer coils? Did you disconnect the battery while installing them?
How old are the spark plugs?
The wires are in the right order but are they properly fitted?

How does it start when hot?

Is your maf clean?

Just a bunch of things, some more important than others

I have ran it for about 20 miles spread over 3 outings, yeah i disconnected the battery when doing them, it has a bit of a hard time starting when hot which is why i replaced the coils, i have a new set of plugs to go in also as the ones that are in are about 18 months old, not sure about the MAF how would i go about cleaning it? what with?

Hot start=compression test. Coils actually matter very little.

20 miles is not enough to re-establish all the fuel trims you deleted by disconnecting the battery. Give it another couple of drive cycles and see what happens.

It's full of MAF cleaning guides on almost any car forum

Check every connection is on 100% . Some leads are really hard to get on properly . You can do this visually by seeing if the boot is the same number of insulator ribs in on each plug - if that makes sense .

Yeah makes sense i will do this tonight as i am going to try and get the new set of plugs in aswell, someone on here mentioned "motor mounts" as a possible cause but am not sure, i am also going to try and clean the maf/iat sensor to see if that helps, is there anything else that could possibly be the cause?
