new 8 owner wondering what oil/fuel to use
so i just bought my first rx8 yesterday its an 05 with 18k miles on it. i own two 2nd gen rx7s and i know alot about rotaries but not much about the rennisis so im wondering what fuel is best to run in it, i know on the N/A 13b second gens they say they run better on low grade but of course the turbos require high test, so whats best for the rennisis? and also what brand/ type of oil is best? the dealer offered a 10k mile warrenty if i get oil changes every 4k miles and use quaker state oil. ive never used that brand oil cause ive heard bad things in the past about it but i have a good freind that owns a quick lube shop that im sure will just write on the reciept that i got quaker state when i really didnt lol. so let me know what you think. thanks

All RX-8s come with a 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty. Your dealer's ripping you off.
I bought the same year RX-8 as you used, with 20,000 miles, and my warranty supposedly expires in 2010!
Personally, I use Castrol GTX 5w20 NON-SYNTHETIC for my car. Don't ******* touch synthetic unless you want to get AIDS (rule applies to rotary cars only). Oil's clean, and the car seems happy. I'm won't be changing to another brand anytime soon...
EDIT: Also, for fuel, I use 93 octane, although the RX-8 can happily take anything 87 and a above.

check out idemitsu oil, specifically designed for rotary engines. a bit expensive but owell, use 93 octane gas, for someone who is supposevely knowlegable about rx7s u sure seem pretty clueless about rotarys'... some believe synthetic oil is bad for the rotary cause it doesnt burn as cleanly as regular oil, some are runing synthetic with no problem, i change my oil every 3k miles so i dont find a need to run synthetic. u will not get a straight answer on oil on this site so the best u can do is read some then make ur own decision, since i have a feelin ull be askin what the best intake/exhausts/ so on just put it this way there all noise makers thats it!
