Need new clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder. Help!

Clutch failed yesterday in traffic. Pedal sinks to the floor. Dealer looked at it today. Says i need new clutch ($740), flywheel ($430) and slave cylinder ($76). With 5 hours of labor at $625 this is coming to around $1900. I called around and looked around and see clutch/flywheel kits online for much much less. Thoughts?

This is a 2004 RX8.

Whaaaat. The master and slave probably need to be replaced but I would question why the clutch and especially the flywheel need to be changed. Was there some catastrophic damage to them?

Also did they confirm it's not just the broken pedal assembly for which there is a TSB?

No but I can ask. I own the car, but my cousin drives it. Point being, I wasn't there when it failed but it sounds like more than the pedal assembly. The clutch pedal just sunk to the floor. Had to be towed and pushed into the shop. Tranny fluid was black I was told. If it's the original clutch, 140k isn't bad I suppose. No catastrophic damage. I think the slave failed and apparently the clutch and flywheel showed excessive enough wear that they suggested replacement. I'll know more Monday.

Getting taken to the cleaners on parts. Should be able to find the Exedy clutch kit on Ebay for $300. The labor cost sounds about right though. Just make sure it's an Exedy clutch kit as it will have everything needed for the job. Mechanic can get the Slave cylinder @ $76 that sounds fair. Though to me, I would just change out the master and slave cylinder for now as it doesnt seem like the clutch is the problem.

Thanks. That’s exactly what we did. Master and slave. They didn’t have any real evidence that the clutch needed replaced. Something about the failed slave could have caused clutch damage. So it was just a recommendation. Didn’t make sense to me.
