Need help / opinions with a brake problem

First off let me start by saying yes I tried to search for the problem but couldn't find my exact problem.

I purchased an 06 manual rx-8 last august with only 13k miles. I purchased a 5-year extended warranty on the car also. 2 weeks after my purchase It ha an intense brake squeal and they fixed it under the 30day warranty. They said it was that the lube on the pads had worn away. And said that it was warrantied for an additional 6months on the same 30day warranty. I drove off happy because the squeal was gone.

About 2 months or so pass and I'm driving the gym and you guessed it, the same squeal showed it's ugly head. I took it back carmax and this time they said that the rotors needed to be resurfaced. I let them resurface the rotors and drove off happy because the squeal was gone again. Once again they added 6 more months of warranty on my front brakes to cover this issue

About 4 months later or so the brakes start to squeal again on my way to work..... Pretty frustrated at this point. Go back to carmax and they say my pars are contaminated and they need to order pads and that they will fix them. Go back a week later and and they replace my brake kit and "shim kit". Squeal goes away..... Another 6 month warranty and I drive off.

Long story short, squeal comes back. Thy admit they "forgot to install the shim kit". Shim kit installed, squeal goes away. Another 6 month warranty. I drive off.

Cut to the chase part now. Was driving to the gym again. The squeal came back. I set up an appointment at carmax and this time they say that my rotors we glazed over and they had to deglaze them and that was the only problem. They say that the rx8 has a terrible brake system and they are going to start charging me every few months to deglaze them and its going to always be there and will always have to have it done every few months as the squeal come back.

A little bit of extra info. I take immaculate car of my car. I do all the correct things for my car as far as maintenance as well as cleaning. Change my oil every 3k. Just ordered my BHR ignition kit as well as new plugs etc. Optima yellow top to accommodate the new coming stereo (also last battery was on it's last leg) Constantly looking at the rx-8 forum but never post because I don't have much to contribute.

Can anyone give me some insight about what I should do. At this point I feel like I'm getting dicked around by carmax. There is no way I'm going to pay $50 every few months for them to do so little to my rotors (I know $50 is nothing when looking at the actual maintenance cost of our cars) but ts a constant issue and I don't think any cars brakes are so bad that they will "always have this issue". It's only been about 2 weeks or so since my last. Carmax appointment and I can already hear faint squeals at certain times (how every other time started)

Ideas / suggestions / anything at this point would be appreciated. Sorry about the huge novel but I felt it was needed to explain it all in enough depth.

How much does the car get driven? How long does it sit unused? When it does squeal does it keep squealing every time they are used or does it slowly go away during use?

No it doesn't slowly go away with every use. It gets worse as the brakes warm up. It's not as noticeable here because I live in Virginia beach and it's finally starting to cool down outside. My car is my daily driver but it's almost all highway. Car is sitting at 28000 miles or so now. Don't drive really hard on the highway obviously. Rev it a few times a day more to blow the carbon as everyone says, not racing it.

Anyone have any ideas? Or suggestions of what I should do to have this fully resolved? Am I crazy or are our cars brakes really that inferior.

The brakes are not inferior. They're actually very good. I can't give any specific tips, since my brakes have never squealed, but I know that others have and I believe there's a TSB on squealing brakes. You might look at that, and also look in the DIY section here for any info on brakes.

If the pads are contaminated, what are they contaminated with? Leaking brake fluid? That mysterious lube? (Never knew brakes needed to be lubed...seems counterintuitive.) When they replaced the pads, any idea what brand they got? If they forgot to install the shims, what else did they forget?

As far as Carmax wanting to charge you...they sold you the extended warranty. If they made a bad deal, it's their problem. But if they're going to welsh and you decide it's not worth your while to hold them to the fire, then go to a good Mazda dealer.
