Yes, 0W is pure synthetic and a different formulation than even other synthetics in the same brand. At least for Mobil1 anyway. Eneos and Mobil1 are the most available 0W-40's, Eneos is a bit more rare but Napa sells it.

Thanks for the replies! 9krpmrx8, would I be better off running a 0W-50 on 5w-50 rather than a 0W-40 or 5W-40 If i tend to drive the car hard/Redline a few times a day? it can get up to 30C over here and I drive my car quite a bit in the summers. Also, thoughts on mixing lucas oil upper cylinder lubricant into the gas tank every fill up? Also, correct me if im wrong, a thinner oil is better for start ups and fuel economy (and what else?), but a thicker oil is better in higher temperatures and better for lubrication and engine life? so find a balance, which to me sounds like it is in the 0-5W and 40-50 Range. Also, winter Ill probably run 5or10W-30

I hope your running a sohn adapter, I couldn't imagine injecting a 50W into the engine, can the OMP even handle that thick of an oil?

My rotary mechanic has done countless engine rebuilds on 13Bs that have used 50W and he says they always are the healthiest looking motors

In regards to bearing wear I would suspect, still doesn't address the issues the OMP could have.

Yes, it can handle 20w50 just fine no problems. Provided you are in the right climate to use that weight. I've used it for years....

You live in the cold area where a 0w40 oil is really useful. My friend 9krpmrx8 and I have been using Mobil 1 0w40 for a few years in a really hot Texas climate, and my UOA's come back great also.

Yeah, 20w50 can work, but would you really want to start that at -20f.

The 0w40 is about same thickness at 32f as the 10w30, but stays thicker when warmed up, so it acts like thick oil when it counts.

The s2 starter is just more powerful than the s1 starter, more reliable.
