I wouldn't go more than 30K on plugs or coils.

guys,

what would u think about the idea of insulating the OEM coils (with a heatshield wrap or sth) in order to avoid the excess heat on their underside ??? ;-)

Something I only recently found out, but the 09~ or Series II Rx-8's have the same 4 "B" Coils as the last Series 1's, but Mazda have modified the Base Plate that the 4 coils fix onto, now the plate instead of being completely flat has a small Groove channel running the length of the coil pack and right where the coils normally get that hot white-heat or burnt mark on them.

So the new Mounting Bracket does not expose the coils to the engine heat from below but allows for some air flow under the coils through this channel or groove.

I have a spare bracket coming from the US, and will post a pic if you want to see it...

Here is the Spare Parts EPC sketch..
Mazda Part # N3R1-18-105

Excellent info, Ash!

Regarding the 3 P/N. I guess there is the original P/N (no suffix), as per the original specs. Then the -A suffix is the later cost reduction exercice. Then finaly the -B suffix to quickly replace the crappy cost reduced part. I worked for Ford before (Engine Performance and Economy), so I've seenhow they do things.
