My car has a mind of its own -- has this ever happened to anyone before?

So in just had a weird thing happen to me.

I was driving around this morning and nothing was out of the norm and the car is fully warm. I get to a stop light, it turns green so i decide to give it the beans. I dont go WOT but i'm about 90% throttle. When i shift from 2nd to third at 7.5k-ish i put my foot on the clutch, simultaneously lift off the gas, go to move the gear lever and when it gets in the neutral position the car (without me touching the gas with my foot still on the clutch) revs to red line, blips the limiter 4 times and then goes back to business as usual.

No issues whatsoever on the rest of the drive home. It runs fine, idles fine, no CEL, nothing...

well -it could be several things. my floor mat was loose the other day and actually stuck the gas pedal for a moment so when i shifted it banged off the rev limiter. i scuffed it back with my heel and everything was fine. made sure it was on the hook when i stopped. so make sure your matt is on the hook and that nothing is under it that can let it move about.

also it could be a sign that you have a faulty pedal position sensor or a dirty one. You might want to see if there are any pending codes.

i kinda doubt to was the floor mat but i guess you never know.

I was thinking it might be something to do with a sensor -- might have to check it out.

Maybe my car is secretly a Toyota
