Can you still get a recalled engine?

I know there are plenty of recall threads, but nothing from this year.
I feel plenty of vibrations at idle in my seat, and im told thats one of the symptoms.
I bought my 04 RX-8 used 2 months ago, if i go to the dealership can they still run tests to see if i need the new engine? Or was that only for a certain period of time back in 06?

You can always go to the dealership and run tests... but they'll charge you a pretty penny if you're out of warranty.

Yep, and if it's not a bad engine then you'll have to pay for the tests. They waive the fees only if they discover it's a bad engine.

It all depends on the dealership. I've seen stealership prices as high as $800.

What I would do is find a nice little rotary shop and have it tested there for about $50-100. If the results are bad then bring it to Mazda.

Try calling up your Mazda dealership first and see how much they charge for a compression test.

That vibration can be caused by a bad motor mount too.

even if you get it tested at a local rotary shop and take it to mazda they will just say they will have to retake the test and do it themselves, thats what my mazda dealer said when i took my compression test results in with low compression, although not low enough to get a new engine.. yet
