My Car is at 56k and CEL comes and goes...

I have about 56k on my 04 RX8 and with my warranty expiring in less than 4000 miles I keep getting a CEL every other day.

Its been doing this for a few weeks and I've been meaning to take it to the dealer but I'd hate to show up and it not being on at that time.

Would they still be able to take a look? I'd hate for me to go over the 60k and having no warranty with a CEL.

Any suggestions?

take it to autozone and get them to tell you what cel code its throwing....then post so we can figure out what it is....could be just you cat going bad and the o2 sensor getting a slow response.....or something else......

forgive the stupid question but are you sure it's the CEL?? It's not the TPMS light coming on in the morning?

+1 to getting the code pulled. Once you have the code, we can point you in the right direction

like coils.

Buy yourself a Scan Gauge II or similar ODB II scanner so you can read and diagnose you own car.

Take it to the dealer - the code should be stored even if the light is not on at the time.

I'm gonna take a guess and say it might be your fuel cap. Luckily, mine went bad and I had some warranty left. Regardless, it's inexpensive and can be replaced in a few minutes.
