Mixing sinthethic and regular oil...

Yes... another oil thread.
Ok, I have just gone through the first 1000 miles on shinka, and have noticed the oil level start to drop (I already searched through all the oil threads, and have seen all the arguments for/against sinthethic oil in the renesis.) however I coudnt find the answer to this question.

Assuming Mazda puts dino oil on the car when they assemble it. Can I top it off with 5w20 synthetic to bring the oil level back to max in between oil changes, or is mixing sinthetic and dino a big no-no???
I only have 5w20 synthetic at home because it is the only oil I use on my other car (2003 Toyota Matrix) since I started doing the oil changes and other scheduled (and modding) maintenance myself.

Or should I buy dino oil to top shinka off untill i can take her to the shop to flush the oil system and replace all the oil with synthetic (if I choose to go that route with her)???

You're going to have to mix when going from dino to syn anyway.

Your car holds a lot of oil, but you're only able to change about 4 quarts out of 7(?) with each oil change. I'm about to switch to synthetic soon. I'm going to get a few bottles of mobile 1 syn and drain the car, put it in, run it for a bit, then drain again and put in 5w30 royal purple.

So then Dino and Syn can be blended with out screwing up the viscosity and other properties of the oil?

and swoope:
I did search the syn threads and theyre all about weather or not synthetic is safe for the renesis, I couldnt find a straight answer on weather or not you can just interchange (and mix) them for "topping off" the oil

I want to make darn sure that if I add 1/2 of syhthetic to top off my oil I am not turning the rest of the oil into vaseline (or some other catastrophic side effect like that)

Because i am just topping it off until it is time to change the oil (and all the oil I have at home is synthetic)
PM on the way for when it is time to change the oil... then I will do the change to full syn

I like your "beers" sig ... so, You a 'hog driver?

i dont understand you are going to put 3 to 5 bucks a qt into a dino mix...

the logic fails me... sure you can put it in, but why would you??? it is a waste of money...

as to the warthog, i stayed at a holidayinn express last night.

so wat swope is saying is, it is completely okay to mix synthetic and dino, but its a waste of $5+ per quart of synthetic just to top off... if you have cases of synthetic lying around, then go for it... no worries on the mixing

Its the oil I already have, (since I use it for my other car) so its actually costing me nothing since its the leftover from my last oil change and not enough for the next one (1+1/4 QT) so I'm gonna have to buy more anyways...

Thanks for the info
