Vented hood - How to prevent engine&intake being soaking wet?
Hi all,
I am thinking of getting a vented hood for the reason to decrease engine room temp. At one time my fan relay got burnt while idling about 45mins without aircon on.
My question is that, if i get the vented hood, how can i prevent my engine and air intake getting soaking wet?
I heard some guys put blocks or rain gutters so the water doesnt hit the intake or engine directly. But i dont actually know how/what this looks like and how they actually do it? If anyone of you here done it before i would really appreciate if you could show me some pictures of it?
Thanks.

Not sure about the 8. But I know the TRD Supra hoods come with rainguards that you can install on the underside of the hood. Maybe if you call around you could find something like that for the 8.

Lot's of them come with plastic under the hood that guides the rain away.
You spend all that money the have plastic blocking the holes.
I need to find a good hood design or make one myself.

I got the K&N v2 intake.
I have seen my friend's subaru vented hood, i now know how it looks, but seems like these gutters are only available on original vented hoods, not replicas. Gonna have to get one of those original vented hoods, which are quite costly if i wanna keep my engine bay clean and dry.

hehehe.. we should even design a perpetuum mobile :P
i've ordered a seibon, but it'll be about a month till it arives, so i have no ideea about rain gutters.
i must confess i'm mostly worried about rains during stops without a roof handy, or carwashing.
regarding the intake geting wet, you could use a bypass valve, though it's aem, so i have no idea if it'll work with K&N, so you don't choke your engine till the filter's dried.
regarding washing, i always take my car for a drive afterewards, no matter how well you have it dried, it still needs some time (and speed ) to do the job properly. 'sides, we need to show the world how nice the 8 is when sparkly
