misfiring question / engine health
So I post this because, I am curious if anyone else thinks this is very suspicious of a possible excess carbon build up.
I made a few 'accelerations' today and at one point got a flashing CEL...ok no big deal...it happens. Not long after, I got another one...this time it flashed then stayed on. Ok...so fouled plugs?
My records indicate I changed the plugs and wires 12k miles ago and the IG coils like 17k miles ago.
So, does that mean I could be getting a lot of build-up? (Beyond the normal)

with your mileage you might want to consider a compression test. Mine started off that way and then got worst. My engine is now completely taken apart pending a rebuild due to 2 broken apex seals. I'm guessing Initially it might have been a sign of a cracked seal that progressively got worst. Then again it might just be your coils went bad.

"worse," not "worst"
No need to capitalize "initially."
Numbers lower than 10 are spelled out.
Bullitin for you - grammar is not a concern in the 'technical' forii.
I suggest you keep your obnoxious trolling in the lounge, and/or getalife.
This will be your only warning......

in no particular order, things you might wanna look into:
plugs, wires, coils(especially if your on OEMs with more than 30-40K on them)
MAF clean?
compression
covering those bases will most likely cover the culrpit

Will you kill me?

Replace the 4 coils, don't cheap out and change the broken ones only. Weak coils lead to weak sparks, weak sparks equal increased carbon buildup
Thanks for your help? How would I be able to tell is Po302 cyl #2 would be leading or trailing since they are both stamped as cyl 2? I went ahead and ordered the other three coils. but 1 came in today. so it will get me moving today.
fyi
cleaned the MAF and disconnected the battery. Put all back together, and no CEL so far. (1.5 days)
