Mazda RX8 2004 Service Highlights Book

For any of you technical 8 owners I was given a great book by a friend at a Mazda dealership. I was used by Mazda Training for the dealer mechanics and may possibly not be available from their parts departments. It is "Mazda RX-8 2004 Service Highlights" Copyright 2003 Mazda Motor Corp. Printed in USA March 2003. Form no. 3378-1U-03C Part no. 9999-95-102F-04.

It has a few hundred pages of details on all parts of the 8. Very interesting.

That is some friend! You can buy this 800-900 page book through Mazda parts for $150. Rosenthal Mazda sells it on-line for $120.

You are correct, though, lots of good info. The companion "Mazda RX-8 2004 Wiring Diagram" form 5578-1U-03C part number 9999-95-040G-04 is also good but even more expensive, 170 pages for $75 retail.

msrecant,

I beleive the Service Highlights book is seperate from the Service Manual. The second I beleive is the prices you are talking about.

Yes I agree that this is not the Service Manual, but a training book. Tells how everything works. It is over a year old, but the basic operation should be the same, even with the "L" or "M" upgrades.

One thing it says is that the speed is limited to 200 kph - 124 mph. Magazines say the speed limit is 146 mph. Wonder what is correct? Anyone had their 8 over 125?

The Service Highlights PDF file was posted on this site somewhere, last fall.

It's only the Auto trans RX-8 that is supposedly limited at 124. The MT RX-8 is supposed to be limited to 148 mph in 6th gear.

Regards,
Gordon

A "Service Highlights" book is released when a new model, or a substantial change to an old model shows up at the dealership. It is a basic outline of the car and how each system works.

Dealers have "Highlights" books on the Rx8 and the Mz3 as 04 models.

They also did recieve a 10 page update for the Mz6 as they added the 5 door and the wagon as 04 models.
