Question Mazda Part Numbers - Teach Me To Fish :)

Hey guys,

Looks like this is the first post I'm allowed to make outside of the newbie section... I'm kinda excited about that I should make it a good one to celebrate but we'll see how it's received...

Over the years of owning Mazda's I've lucked out on ordering parts. You look at the diagram, find the reference and then try to match the currently available part with the item you need. Sometimes you end up googling the various available part numbers in an attempt to find the one that looks right... other times I just call and ask.

As an example, I need to order a new "Duct, Fresh Air" and the reference numbers are the same for Auto, Manual, High Power... however, the pictures and parts are different. I'll attempt to illustrate.

The part I need is the one in this diagram (image 1) labeled 13-201A

AT/MT High PowerHowever, there is also a complementary diagram with the same reference number (image 2):

AT standard power
So... I take the newly discovered reference number and search the available part numbers with the associated diagram (13-201A). Here are the results (image 3): Available part numbers for the image reference numberSo the only conclusions I can draw is that the notes for the parts are incorrect. I can't believe that the more complicated part is cheaper than the one with the dual ducts (this suggests they're calling the AT:STD Power the part for the AT/MT:High Power and vice versa). Then I see that there is an N3H3-13-200B and an N3H3-13-200C for the more expensive part. Normally this happens when one part supplements another part over the years. They would usually include a Start/End date in the black header. In this case there is nothing.

If someone can help me "fish" and teach me where I'm going wrong or what I'm not seeing I would greatly appreciate it and forever be indebted! (... I'd like to consider the days of ordering the wrong part a thing of the past!)

I've tried googling all of the respective part numbers and I see illustrations of both parts. I searched the forum and the only thread it listed was a delta between the series 1/2. I read through that but didn't see anything relevant (admittedly I could have missed it)

Wow! That's not very helpful I know.
Let's start with your car.......................year? AT or MT?
I still won't be able to help much as I lost my hard drive recently with everything on it, but maybe this will keep it fresh and someone will chime in.

Guess I would also ask you why you need this part? That's kind of a loaded question, but I need to ask anyway.

Fair questions, 04 MT.

i need the part as the current one has been broken at the top and provides no seal. The airbox has issues too but I can make do without fixing them as they are not part of the air flow

N3H3-13-200C 6 PORT HIGH POWER mt

Those screenshot details are wrong and back to front.
N3H1 is LOW POWER AT
N3H3 is 6 port high power.

Thanks Ash. Could you help me understand how you worked that out or where you looked it up?

Often times you will have to call the Mazda dealer to confirm the part numbers. I have not had great luck with these online diagrams. The old parts fiche was great for the 79-91 RX-7's. Very clear and concise and easy to understand. I have seen multiple part numbers for certain parts for the 8 as well and it can get very frustrating. I usually just go in to the dealer and give the parts counter my vin number and when they look up the parts it eliminates all of the AT parts.
