Mazda Is Killing Me!. Need Your Help!
hey guys my car is in the mazda dealer cause there was something REALLY wrong with my transmission with my 2nd 3rd and 4th gear. i had to tow it to mazda. and i just got word from them. that they found my transmissions fluid. and they said it doesnt look "normal" and that it looks sorta like a racinf fluid, black and watery... i told them i NEVER put any sort of racing fluid or anything. cause they said it doesnt look the one they have in there's. so the problem is here. they need me to "authorize" the tear down on my car to find out the problem.
now if its somehow not under warrenty its 1200+ to tear down. and parts they need to order and what not. and if its under warrenty then its fine. but i dunno what to do...i guess i have no choice? cause i know. i did nothing wrong. but i don't want them to blame me for something i didnt do. i need your guys help and opinions on what i should do in this situation. thanks

Heh, sounds like my situation. They told me they would tear it down and if they found abuse, i would be charged for the teardown and the rebuild. Seems as if Biddulph Mazda, in Arizona wants to shaft me. What is the build date on your vehicle, i remember reading a few threads on here about similar build dates with the same issues. Maybe we can start a class action if this continues in trend with build dates.

I hate hearing about these *warranty void* issues. It's almost as if Mazda doesn't care about or believe their own frickin' customers. We paid $30K for this car!!
I'm usually an anti-lawsuit kind of guy, but if Mazda voided my warranty for what they call "abuse" and what I call "normal driving"....I'd take them to court, create an anti-Mazda website...basically do all I can to give them a bad name.

lil update. i talked to the tech who works on my car all the time. and he said. even if the tranny fluid goes bad. its black with THICK fluid. normal fluid is suppose to look like honey and thick. but mine is black and WATERY. and took a test sample. but needs to find out results. DANG man. this is killing me. im gonna make sure its done through warrenty. im gonna fight this one for sure. after its done. this car is gone. im not happy with this at all

I guess it begs the question -- have you changed your fluid? I mean, you told them that you hadn't, but did you?
I also found it funny that you said they "found" your transmission fluid. I can see the techs scrambling all over your car looking for the fluid now...

I wasn't picking on your grammar, we all type like that sometimes. I just found it funny, because I could literally see most of the techs I've known to have some problems "finding" the transmission fluid.

first - you dont pay for the tear down up front- if they decide it is not covered then it would be part of the overall bill. but why do you assume they are going to find something to blame on you. maybe you have had more issues than this, but what you are saying is basically they called you to authorise more diagnostics that you hadnt agreed to before hand. which is what they legally have to do. i dont understand the problem so far. if you have issues after they do more diagnaostic work then go up the chain at the dealership. but rigth now you dont have an issue you have a choice- allow them to do the diagnostic which you may or may not have to pay for later OR take it to a tranny shop where you will definetly have to pay for diagnostic labor.

Hope you took off the straight pipe, and any other little modifications... Even Alex will have to report those things, and the dealership may be a dick about it and void your warranty assuming you drive fast/recklessly and screwed up the transmission yourself.

I could have sworn you had a manual tranmission.
How can you say you have black and watery transmission fluid? Do you really have an Auto?
M/T's don't have tranny fluid. Your tranny fluid is your motor oil. Your motor oil always gets black. Watery is subjective. I've never seen mine black as I always change it.
My 94 Buick is black with 5-30w oil and you can call that watery when I change it.
So I suppose you can call 5-20wt watery when you change it since it lighter viscocity.

But i'm sure you already knew that.
And you won't be able to see any differance in 5-20 compared to 5-30. After the oil has cooled down they would both have the same viscocity so there is no differance.
