Maintenance & Warranty

I'd like to start doing all my oil changes and maintenance myself. How can I prove that it's getting done for warranty issues if the problem ever arises? I've got the 7500 coming up but I just don't trust the dealer anymore (they overfilled WAY too much last change).

Any insight? Do I just keep the receipts and hope they believe me if they question it?

I understand about the "overfill". My dealer does it every time. If I didn't have the free-maintenance-for-48K-miles card I wouldn't take it there.

The owners manual indicates that Mazda does not have to do the maintenance. It specifically says "The owner should retain evidence that the proper maintenance has been performed as prescribed.".

I believe that if you maintained a log book (mileage, date, type of service, tasks performed) and kept all receipts for each maintenance, that you would not have a problem. Actually that would be better record keeping than my dealer does.
