To beat a dead horse, trying to figure out my 8's current issue with FI, i've already thrown a p0172 ('system too rich (bank 1)') code. My bov is set to vent to atmosphere, and currently I am still awaiting the ecu to arrive. The maf is stock. however i saw this:

04-08 Rx8 Boost Sensor (KL47-18-211)

I wasn't sure do i need something like this so i can stop stalling every i coast from one gear to the other (neutral riding). For freeze frame data i found the

ECT(Fahrenheit) is 203
eng rpm 1048
veh speed 0mph
spark adv(deg) -5
IAT(Fahrenheit) 125.6
MAF(lb/min) 0.9

Trying to get this thing up and running again. Also its running racing beat race pipe, so the 02 sensor codes are there in addition. :/

From the conversation in this thread it provides a lot of insight but kind of a tug o war on which to which.

Nice 10 year old thread bump !

Sounds like it's stalling because the BOV is venting and making the maf see too much air thereby making it too rich . But it also sounds like you don't really know much about your system - not good on an FId rx8 ...................

lol its a big bump. But you're right i don't know too much about it. Installing it myself shed a vast amount of light on this car and FI stuff in general but a lot is still very hazy. I'm currently trying to figure out why its acting this way. The last time something like this happened to me it was from misfires, plugs, wire, coils etc. But this time no misfires thrown. lol on standby for that, upgraded wires and plugs in hand. The light smelly bits of smoke here and there from exhaust i chopped up to there being no cat. This car is suppose to burn tid bits of oil from what i've learned.

also...this is probably an important note. The fuel pump was changed, and the injectors, two outside ones any way on the secondary rail, are 1000cc injectors. The ones that were on the outside of the secondary rail are now the two injectors on the primary rail. Just a little side note..

Thats just it, it hasn't been tuned as of yet. The ECU is a haltech ecu loaded with a base map. I literally just finished installing this kit yesterday. Braved it to drive it back to my apt afterwards at around 2psi. I need to sort out why my afr isn't reading anything though.

Yeah there is this one rotary tech at a place where they tune and do performance stuff for cars in general. They've had the pleasure of doing a wide variety of tuning with different setup. . But I gotta store the 8 in a few weeks. So im trying to solve all these mysteries proor to that.

I know, that's why I'm banking on the base map taking care of a few of the breathing issues. I am out of time and have to ship the car. O couldn't ship the parts so the easiest way to take care of that was to install them. I was still going to boost it anyway just a lot slower paced
