I removed my room fuse now car sputters horribly the corrects itself then repeats. I did a few drive cycles is this part of the relearning process?

Swampdonkey 03-30-2011 03:01 PM

U mean clips on the side of glovebox or filter door? I just replaced mine and they were BLACK filled w dirt and leaves lol. Prob nvr been changed before me

Swampdonkey 03-30-2011 06:22 PM

Ok but can someone please tell me why my car will barely stay running after removing re room fuse? I've took fuse out again and unhooked battery and its still doin same thing?

Speed_8 03-30-2011 06:24 PM

by removing the room fuse you reset your fuel trim ( same as removing battery ) so it has to relearn, from what I know you have to drive it for a while without frequent stops and it should relearn, if i'm wrong some one please correct me...

I've done it before and its never continuously choked itself down like this its weird. Guess I'll take it on a good drive later on. I looked up that thread but didn't see any bird pic lol did they remove it or something?

instead of cleaning the maf bulb thing, can't you just buy a new one? stupied question i know, but i have to ask.

Mazurfer 03-30-2011 06:56 PM

^......MAF sensor runs about $150.00 and "yes, you can just buy one"............if you wish to do so.

So my question would be.....why did you pull the fuse or battery in the first place?

Fuel trims can take two-three complete drive cycles to settle down. You can search and find out what constitutes a drive cycle, but it's basically letting the car reach full operating temp, then letting it cool off completely(I forget the actual temp...something like below 100F or so...........car off).

Just to give everyone an idea on what constitutes a "drive cycle":

Its obviously more than just warming the car up at idle and cooling it down.
