Lucas UCL?

ok so was reading a post that said lucas oil upper cylinder lube contains stuff that can eat away at the seals. that kinda claim is worth asking more about...

everything else ive read says UCL is a good, clean burning pre mix. is there any danger to the seals/engine from lightly premixing UCL?

thanks guys, i just wanna know if this is for real or not before i pick up another bottle of it. pic below for fun:

i know, same with me, and i cant think of any reason why it would eat at the seals. i mean yeah its suppose to get rid of deposits so it has to have some sort of compound that removes them. however it cant be so strong that it eats away at our seals too because then it would damage other components in normal engines as well.

so could you guys weigh in? any truth?

A while back in the premix thread some said that mixing UCL and 2-stroke as pre mix caused fuel filter clogging. Last I knew that wasn't really proven or disproven, but I will usually do a few tanks with UCL, then several with 2-stroke, using both, but never really mixing.

I've used it pretty heavy, since day-one.

It is very lubricious and burns cleanly, it's based on a polymer called polyisobutylene and certainly won't harm any baby seals!

Stealth, have you ever had your fuel pump replaced? Do you track your car at all? How much of the UCL do you mix with a fill up?

I'm reviving this thread just as a heads up. I am starting my premix today. I have an 05 6speed with 55K. I have Pennzoil Marine Premium Plus Synthetic and I am mixing it with Lucas UCL. At this point I have a gallon of the Pennz and 32 oz of Lucas UCL, so what I am planning on doing is just mixing the two together and using the UCL bottle as my measuring cup.

I've been using this setup for about a month and it's great. I haven't tried anything else yet but no issues so far.

At what ratio are you mixing? And how many ounces are you adding per tank?

I bought a 32 Oz bottle of the Lucas and added it to a gallon of the Pennzoil 2-cycle marine oil. I use the Lucas bottle to measure out about 12 ounces and that will last two tanks. I have done as much as 10 ounces in a tank and as little as 4.

Sounds like a great mix.

Had a new pump, but only because the old one burned out.

Sock gets dirtier than average, so I clean annually.

I've been premixing for quiet 3 years now, and no problems at all

2oz Lucas High Boost Octane

2oz Lucas UCL

2oz Penzoil or Castrol 2 stroke

I only input 6oz each time I fill the tank... there are a lot of ways to use UCL, but I'm sure you can check the Premix Thread for more info....

Yes, UCL is fine on it's own, it's based on PolyIsoButylene, a very slippery chemical synthesized from natural gas.

Well if it is like any other premix out there then people usually go a half ounce per gallon of fuel. Check https://www.rx8club.com/tech-garage-...99636/page144/ if you really want to know.

I always use the UCL never had any problems. I have no idea who or why someone said it would eat the seals. It is a type of oil. it is not like Seafoam which is a heavy duty cleaner, which over time with use will eat rubber and plastic. Put some in a foam cup and see what happens, it will also eat paint. Seafoam is ment to be used as needed to clean valves and lines, lucas is ment to be used all the time, or every cpl tanks. I had my engine rebuilt after 130k and hardly any wear on it!

Then why rebuild it?

There is nothing more ridiculous than a bunch of backyard mad scientist hacks thinking that a conglomeration of crap they bought off the shelf at Walmart is a magic ellixer for their engne

Exactly. Stick to proven products that are promoted on infomercials.

One serious (sort of) question about UCL. Is this meant to be mixed with gas for use in two stroke engines? So should I use it in my week whacker instead of the stuff labeled "two stroke oil" that I buy at Home Depot?
