Quick question for the OP. Does the car feel normal (ie adequate power) before the motor is fully warmed up? Does the power loss only occur after the vehicle has been running for awhile?

Before I installed the turbo on my car I hade a revi intake and throttle body spacer on when I took my car into the dealer for my tranny. They told me that someone had put a different throttle body on and was causing a vacum leak wich was causing my transmission problems. I didn't even argue with them, I just told them to give my car back and I took it to another dealer, they gave me no problems. I was tempted to go back to the other dealer just to show them that they are complete idots but that would make me look like them.

I have quite a horror story regarding my first mazda dealership service expierence that I've recounted a few times on other threads. I still don't understand why dealers fight warranty work. My Dad was a Toyota dealer for 20 some odd years and they loved warranty work as they got full labor rate from Toyota of NA and it made the customers super happy. Its pretty much a win/win situation. Obviously you can't defraud the company with work that is legitimately not warranty work, but so many of these stories are clearly legit and yet they are still refused service. My new dealer has openly stated that they have the same philosophy and have performed numerous warranty repairs without any hassel.

I think warranty work is paid on a flat rate/fee basis from the parent company so there is not much profit in it and could be very costly if time consuming. Costly in that the mechanics are actually busy fixing warranty problems as opposed to taking time raping poor service customers on non-warranty issues. Mind you, not all dealers are blood sucking leeches.

There is as you mentioned, a specific time alloted for any repair task done under warranty. That is what mazda, or any other manufactuer will compensate the dealer for. They also receive compensation for the parts, ie they get paid as if the customer had purchased them with markup.

Generally, trying to screw people on warranty work sends them packing somewhere else. Even if the job takes a little longer, and you have to pay the tech for a little more time, its better than getting no work at all because you pissed off the customer.

There are plenty of blood suckers out there who can be penny wise/pound foolish andl try to scam a customer for some easy money. Dealers like that don't get alot of repeat business.
