A lot of black smoke coming out of exhaust after installing midpipe.

Its been about a week i have my AP midpipe. The smell is terrible when you are stuck in traffic and you litterally smell gas when getting out of the car and going to work.

Now my problem is I noticed the car smokes a lot. On idle you can see it coming out of the exhaust. I revved the car at a stoplight and there was smoke everywhere some dude was screaming at me from his BMW convertible no joke.

Is this normal? Ill take a video to show you guys when I have a chance.

Would the fuel maps of the cobb access port stop this and the smell? or at least reduce it by a lot? Im thinking of putting back my stock CAT

it can take a few days to burn in.. but lots of smoke, that seems odd. Make sure to check for leaks.

This picture was taken at night while the car was warmed up completely. Even in the dark the smoke is still coming out a lot. This cant be normal on idle could it? Im dying of all the fumes in the car. This car is going to kill me!

This is another thing I don't understand with people driving around with midpipe all day.

I mean sure it sounds nice, but all those bad stuff will find it's way back into your cabin.

With a CAT, it won't get rid of everything but at least it's acceptable.

WHen I first got my FC it got Racing Beat's Full Race Exhaust I was like OMFG I can't stand it. bought a cat and everything is better.

With no cat, it is normal to smell some fumes, and have a bit more exhaust smoke than normal.

But if this is as severe as you suggest, then you probably have something else going on, maybe one of these:
- Material on the inside of the cat is burning off
- You are running way too rich. Do you get alot of backfires and lots of flames? The flame size is a pretty good indication of how rich you are running. Running about optimum won't get more than a quick pop, no actual burning flames.
- There is 1 or more of the gaskets which isn't sealed correctly (installation error or it's failing), and it is leaking exhaust straight out under the car instead of behind it.

Without more information, it will be hard to pinpoint the problem.

If it's neither

hmmmm actually you could be right on the installation error. I reused the stock gasket for the bak part of the midpipe and it was like maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 inch bigger in diameter than the midpipe. You could clearly see the gap between the gasket and the midpipe.
